We have made most of our improvements from previous seasons with our scheduling. We listened to your concerns and have made the following improvements.
1. Limited May Long weekend games. We have had to add some games back into the long weekend to keep all games at Western Fair.
2. No 2 games the same day
3. No schedule changes
4. Complete schedule before the season starts.
With our roster system capturing player data we can now take the allocated ice and build a standardized schedule with all teams listed as team numbers 1 thru 160. Team #1 will be the team with the lowest roster total, and most likely the youngest; and team #160 will have the highest total, and oldest.
Everyone plays 9 of thier 10 games inside a set time frame. We start with the tykes playing first thing Saturday morning (8:30 - 9:00 am) and work through to the end of our ice allotment which is usually around 6pm. Then on Sunday morning at 9 we continue until approximately 6pm. So using last years registration numbers, and with 4 ice pads:
Tyke age teams - 18 (Will play saturdays between 8:30 till noon)
Novices - 48 ( minor novices and some major novices , saturdays noon - 6pm)
Atoms - 36 ( Sunday mornings and into early afternoon)
Peewees -36 (Sunday afternoons)
Bantams - 16 ( Sunday afternoons, some friday evenings)
Midgets - 8 ( Friday evenings , some sunday afternoons)
To implement this schedule we have to eliminate the ability to make scheduling changes; but feedback suggests that this is the lesser of two evils.
But; with the standardized schedule you will know your entire schedule long before the season begins. Also; as explained in more detail on the website, you can get a very good idea when you games will be by knowing your teams relative level of play, age, and gender and comparing to last seasons teams and enrolment.
The standardized schedule keeps your games much closer to the same time each week.
