Spirit and Intent of 3on3 London

The purpose of 3on3 London is to:
(a) Encourage and foster sportsmanship and fair play amongst its members
(b) Establish, maintain, and increase an interest in amateur hockey
(c) To provide recreational hockey that all youth can afford

Section One: Governing Play
(a) All CHA rules are in effect unless otherwise stated.
(b) The League has final authority concerning all rules and regulations including, but not limited to, suspensions, expulsions and general discretion of conduct.

Section Two: Teams
(a) only registered players on team rosters or waiting list may play (see Section Three).
(b) A team shall be composed of nine to eleven (9-11) skaters and one (1) goalie.
(c) Each team will play with four (4) players on the ice.
(d) A team trailing by five (5) or more goals, MUST ice one (1) additional until such time that the deficit falls below. (f) Failure to comply to this rule will result in a bench minor penalty.

Section Three: Replacements & Reserves
(a) Teams must use other registered players from existing teams or waiting list (if available) from your division or lower.
(c) Teams can use up to three (3) reserve players in any game; ie. 2 skaters and a goalie.
(c) Replacement players may only be used for emergencies or potential emergencies to meet the minimum, not to fill the benches.
(e) Unregistered players may NOT be used for any reason.

Section Four: Rules of Play
(a) all games will be NON-BODYCHECKING.
(b) All games will be 50 minutes in total ice time. Includes 3 minute warm-up and penalty shots.
(c) When play is stopped due to the goalie controlling the puck or a goal was scored, a whistle will signal the attacking players to vacate the zone. Once all the attackers have exited the zone, the players may re-enter to resume play immediately. They may not challenge the opposition until they have all exited the zone. Attacking prematurely may result in a penalty for the offending team.
(d) There is no centre-ice (red) line, and therefore no icing calls or offside passes.
(e) All offside plays at the blueline will be deemed delayed offside and the referee will call for the offending players to release the puck and exit the zone. Once all the offending players have exited the zone together, they may re-enter the offensive zone.
(g)The end of the game is at the referee’s discretion. Rule of thumb is to allow 1 minute to set up for penalty shots, an additional 30 second for each shot. (eg. Final shot total is Home 5 and Away 2 / 3 minutes will be needed for penalty shots)

Section Five: Shifts
Tyke/Novice age teams only
(a) Player shifts will be one (2) minutes in length. A buzzer will run to signal the end of each shift.
(b) once the buzzer sounds, players must relinquish control of the puck immediately and vacate the ice. The new players may enter onto the ice surface immediately.
All Divisions:
(a) Failure to immediately relinquish control of the puck at the sound of the buzzer or new players entering the ice surface prematurely may result in a penalty for the offending team.
(b)In the absence of a goaltender, teams will play with four (4) skaters. The fourth skater may not exit their zone except to change or in the last 5 minutes of the game. Fourth skaters are not required to change on the buzzer and can change at any time. When a team is up by 5 goals and they have a 4th skater on the ice, that 4th skater stays on the ice until the end of that shift ( till buzzer sounds).

Section Six: Minor Penalties
(a) all penalties will result in a penalty shot being awarded to the offended team at the end of the game. There will be no stoppage of play after the penalty. The team offended will be awarded the puck in the neutral zone on a penalty call in their offensive zone, or given the puck in a cleared defensive zone if called in their own end.
(b) Penalized player must leave the ice, replaced with another player.
(c) Any player having been assessed three (3) minor penalties in the same game will be automatically ejected from that game.
(d)Players ejected with five (5) minutes left to play in the game shall be assessed a further game misconduct.
(e) Body checking penalties will be deemed as two (2) offences on the score sheet only. Two (2) body checking penalties in the same game will result in the immediate ejection from that game plus a further game misconduct.
(f) Penalty shots will be taken simultaneously at the end of the game.
(g)If the aggregate total of penalty shots exceeds 10, only the differential will be taken. (eg. Home team – 7 shots / Away team 4 shots, Home team will get 3 shots)
(h) All tyke and Novice division teams will begin the game with 3 penalty each. This rule allows for the players to all experience the penalty shots.

Section Seven: Major Penalties
(a) Major penalties will result in the immediate ejection of the offending player(s) and suspension pending further review by the League.
(b) Fighting majors will result in the penalized players being ejected from the game.
(c) Any team with 3 recorded fighting majors, regardless of the player, will be expelled from the league for the remainder of the season.

Section Eight: Coaches, Managers
(a) Up to (3) three coaches, assistants or trainers may be on the benches. All bench personnel must be a minimum 21 years of age and registered with the league.
(b) Coaches, Trainers are not required to be carded.
(c)Bench personnel having been ejected from a game, for any reason, will be automatically suspended for a minimum 2 games and subject to further review for possible expulsion from the league. INAPPROPRIATE BEHAVIOUR, CONDUCT OR LANGUAGE WILL NOT BE TOLERATED!

Section Nine: Team default Rule
Any team that does not show, or ice a team for a scheduled game will:
(a) Forfeit that game.
(b) Forfeit their next scheduled game, which will be awarded to the team that showed but had no team to play.
